I grew up in Metro-Detroit and attended the University of Michigan where I studied Anthropology and Environmental Science. This ignited in me a passion for social justice and an unending curiosity about people.
Post-college, I joined Teach for America in Detroit, becoming a high school math and science teacher. This adjustment to the “real world” was one of the most challenging times in my life, and anxiety became a bigger part of my daily experience. I found a wonderful community through Citizen Yoga, and began to learn more about mindfulness and the mind-body connection. Yoga and meditation became my refuge.
While working as a teacher, I realized that I cared a lot more about the relationships that I was building with my students than I did about teaching them Physics or Algebra, so I decided to go back to school to become a counselor. While in school, I worked as a career consultant, a tutor, and a yoga instructor- I was running all around SE Michigan, keeping busy with multiple jobs, because I thought my worth was equal to my accomplishments and how busy I was.
Since graduating, I’ve worked as a school counselor and a mental health therapist, continuing to offer yoga and mindfulness tools to everyone I come across because of how impactful they’ve been for me. I’ve learned (especially when the world shut down in 2020), that my value doesn’t come from how much I DO. My current focus is learning to slow down, find contentment, and savor the good stuff in life.
I currently live in Ferndale with my partner and our two kitties.

My ideal client is someone who understands that healing comes from their own efforts and reflections. I enjoy working with people who are ready for change and come to therapy for guidance, support, philosophy, and coping strategies to help them on their way. I especially would love to work with you if you want to understand the mind-body connection and are open to integrative methods of healing.
I primarily work with folks who need support with:

The therapeutic relationship between us can be magical! In the safety of this relationship, you can start to tap into your own inner wisdom and knowledge. Witnessing and learning from this transformation is my favorite part of being a therapist.
One of my personal values is continual growth and learning, and I feel that I am able to learn deeply about myself and the world through this work. I enjoy this work because of the relationships I am able to build with other humans. In my experience, the most impactful therapy and healing happens when we build a trusting relationship based on curiosity and mutual respect.

Therapy doesn't have to be all about talking; it can be about experiencing something new or finding moments of stillness and rest. We are allowed to approach healing with curiosity and playfulness!
I truly believe that mindfulness is one of the most effective tools we can develop to increase contentment, ease, and joy in our lives. You can expect to learn about mindfulness, meditation, breathing, and restorative yoga in sessions with me. You can expect that 5-30 minutes of each session will be spent learning and experiencing these tools. The amount of time and type of tools we use will be decided in collaboration with you.

I enjoy working with couples because I believe the impact of couples counseling causes a ripple effect in each client's life: learning empathetic communication skills, identifying deep-rooted patterns, and releasing criticism and defensiveness allows each partner to feel more fully safe and seen in their relationship, which results in them being able to more fully engage in the world. When we feel the safety and security of being able to trust and rely on a partner, the rest of our lives (work, school, raising children, etc) doesn't feel as scary.
I can support couples in: Building healthy communication patterns, engaging respectfully in conflict, working through stress related to a life transition, recovering from infidelity or another type of break in the trust of the relationship, creating a fair division of household labor, and overall contentment in the relationship.

My path began while at Purdue University studying genetics; initially wanting to become a genetic counselor, I soon realized that it was counseling that I was drawn to, not so much genetics. I changed my focus to studying the brain and human behavior and became passionate about understanding people and their experiences. I’ve come to believe that understanding and empathy are most important to our happiness, belonging, and growth.
In the last several years, I have worked as an administrative staff member at Beaumont and as a Career Counselor at Oakland University; these experiences have reaffirmed my passion for continuously learning and growing to better serve my community. I am currently in the final stages of completing my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Oakland University, and I intend to work as an individual and couples therapist.
I am forever in pursuit of living my best cozy life with my husband and our dog. If you feel called to find more peace and slowness in your life or your relationship, please reach out to me!

There is no one size fits all approach to therapy. My therapeutic style is highly collaborative, trusting that through the therapeutic relationship, we can work together to find the answers to growth and healing that are already present in your experiences. Whether through learning new tools, or offering an empathetic ear, my goal is to provide a safe space to dive into what may be uncomfortable, in both the individual and couples counseling experience.

I believe that relationships speak directly to our need for human connection and can be where some of the most transformative change occurs. It may seem daunting at first to explore the dynamics of a relationship, but couples counseling offers clients a host of unique opportunities that individual therapy doesn’t always show us. A deeper understanding of each others’ wants and needs can provide authenticity, accountability, and intimacy that may have otherwise been missing. Each relationship is unique and ever evolving, so every day offers fresh insights and perspective for both the couple and myself.
